Company Profile: Best Buy is one of the largest retail and ecommerce enterprises on the planet, it has been named a

"Company of the Year" and ranked in the Top 10 of "America's Most Generous Corporations" by Forbes, and has made Fortune® magazine's List of 'America's Most Admired Companies' on numerous occasions.

As a DM/Director of Stores, Femi was directly accountable for all financials, sales, marketing, operations, and regulatory

compliance activity for all Best Buy locations across Upstate New York, South Jersey and Philadelphia. This included

responsibility for planning and launching several new multi million dollar businesses within his territory; new stores, 

service centers, home delivery services, as well as ecommerce service and fulfillment operations within those marketplaces.

Femi developed a multichannel operation with several hundred million dollars in annual revenues by transforming core aspects of the regional business model to emphasize sales and marketing rather than just product mix, he overhauled  outdated training and development  programs and  partnered with brands including; Disney, Netflix, Apple, Microsoft, Toshiba, Samsung, Sony, and Nokia to develop revolutionary new sales initiatives while ensuring alignment with national operational strategy.

Company ProfileIflix is a leading SVOD platform in emerging markets  - Investors include MGM, SKY and Hearst, which counts BuzzFeed, Vice and Roku among its investment portfolio.

 

Femi was contracted as one of the senior most executives on the Africa's leadership team. This was a greenfield operation  with full P/L responsibility and oversight for remote employees on 3 continents (Europe, Asia, and Africa).  Femi mobilized this international project team in the execution of a market entry strategy, this included the development of  a USD $5 million launch budget. Femi's team was responsible for creating B2B and B2C sales and marketing campaigns, and  negotiating  commercial revenue sharing  agreements with local studio’s.  The team also developed revolutionary new site merchandising techniques as part of the localized service launch.

 

Iflix ultimately entered an ownership/partnership agreement with one of Africa's most successful technology companies, Econet Wireless and Media (Kwesé), founded by Strive Masiyiwa who sits on the boards of The Rockefeller Foundation, The US Council on Foreign Relations, and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum's Committee on Conscience.

Company Profile: ALARA  Lagos is a luxury lifestyle brand dedicated to contemporary art, and culture and is featured in the May 2014 edition of the Wall Street Journal (Online) and in Vogue Online's November, 2014.. The  brand concept features a showcase store designed by celebrated architect David Adjaye, who was also lead designer for the Smithsonian Museum of African American History, located on the National Mall in Washington DC.

 

 Femi worked closely with the global project manager on initial capitalization efforts and then executed on all aspects brand management including, planning, negotiating and maintaining all media vendor contracts (buying for cable, radio, print, and outdoor, as well as online and ethnic media). Femi was also directly responsible for hiring the company's first management team, supervising construction of the showcase store, establishing strong working relationships with shareholders, logistics providers and a range of new and established world class luxury brands including the likes of Valentino, Dries van Noten, Duro Olowu, Stella McCartney, and Moroso.  

 

Alara’s founder subsequently went on to recognition on ‘The Business of Fashion 500.’

Company Profile: Mara Group  is a Pan African company headquartered in the Middle East with vast experience operating in the financial services, manufacturing, real estate and technology sectors.  It has many strategic advantages over local market competition and new entrants from outside the continent as a result of it's partnerships with foreign investors. A good illustration of this is Atlas Mara Co (ATMA:LN), co-founded with former Barclays CEO Bob Diamond.

 

Femi partnered directly with Christian Unger, one of Europe's top eCommerce advisors (currently at Partners Group AG, a leading private markets investment firm), to establish a strategic testing center for a technology and logistics related start up. He led onsite and remote individuals in Lagos, Dubai and Mumbai in forming a single team operating within an optimal cost model.

Femi's team developed the company's go-to-market strategy and beta launch plan, localized a multi-country logistics platform, and secured relevant local partnerships.
